FAQs
What is therapy?
To put it simply, it is what you want it to be.
Some days you may want to talk about positive childhood experiences, while other days we may dig deeper into past traumas that are affecting you today. It is a supportive and non-judgemental environment with a third party individual (us).
Research shows that psychotherapy is most beneficial for the client when conducted once a week. We couldn’t agree more!
How does this work?
Due to COVID-19, all of our clinicians are seeing clients virtually. We have found that this allows attendance rates to improve, as well as a more steady and consistent growth.
We use a HIPPA compliant third party software when communicating with you. After speaking with you, our software will send you an email where you can make an account though our easy to use portal. Once you make an account, you can fill out important documents online as well as attend virtual appointments! You will also receive reminders before appointments via text/email. We are here to make your process as effortless as possible, so please reach out to us with any questions, comments, and/or concerns!
Who is appropriate to do therapy with our clinicians?
Children, Adolescents, Teens, Young Adults, Adults, and our Young at Heart individuals are all welcome to inquire about our therapy services

Which insurance do you take?
Northwell Direct, Cigna, Aetna, Quest Behavioral Health, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (formerly Empire) and NYSHIP Empire Plan.
Being Out-of-Network (OON) with most insurance companies allows us to provide you with a “superbill” at the end of the month for potential insurance reimbursement. We recommend calling your insurance for more information on OON psychotherapy sessions!
What forms of payment do you take?
Most clients use our secure patient portal to pay after sessions have been completed. We also accept Venmo, Zelle, credit card (powered by Square), checks, and cash.
What is required of me (the client)?
The short answer, nothing!
You are in the driver’s seat and can steer your path to recovery and wellness however you please. We will be in the passenger’s seat, gently guiding you along your experience.
What makes Peaceful Mind Counseling different from other private practices?
Peaceful Mind Counseling is one of the few private practices in the area that make the client’s satisfaction and time a priority. Being a women owned and operated small business, we wanted to see how we could improve the already saturated mental health field. We asked ourselves what was lacking, and what we would like to change. We found that it was nearly impossible for other agencies and therapists to answer our inquiries for our own psychotherapy within an appropriate timely manner. This spouted the idea for Our Mission.
Our Mission: To answer all questions and inquiries to begin therapy with one of our therapists within 24 hours.
This means having fast, easy, and convenient, psychotherapy right at your fingertips!
The experience and professionalism that we bring to the table is unmatched! We have seen and heard it all, as well as are well versed in inpatient hospital criteria and assessments.
